The Essentials - A refresher
It’s always good to refresh your memory. Here is a great refresher on the essentials of a man’s wardrobe. Mr. Porter, the new luxury style site for men, clearly knows their stuff. It’s too bad the emphasis is on luxury. I am sure all of these essentials can be had for much less and still be good quality. Happy Hunting.

Die, Workwear!: An Introduction to Introductions
A worthy reblog. All the info you need to get started or keep going.
A few readers in the past week have asked me about where else they can turn to read about menswear. There are a lot out of resources out right now, actually, so I thought I’d put together a little list.

First, there are online forums. StyleForum is probably the best of these, but the…

A little sartorial inspiration from Sid Mashburn. I haven’t been to his store in ATL, but I like the look. It’s a nice template for a classic look.

La la la, wait til I get my stuffing right
I bought some cream at seven eleven
When I got home I made Thanksgiving dressing
I’m like “God, I wish I could have some seconds.”
Man, It’s so hard not to act reckless.
To much is turkey, much is breasted
Say a blessing, guess I will take a helping.
I feel the pressure, to get more food for me
So what I do? Eat more turkey meat.
Cook more fava beans, more butter peas
My mama even brought cran-ber-ries.
Lasagna, baby let’s agree
I’m on holiday eating what’s good for me.
I’m just eating up my fill, man.
I ain’t one of the whales, I don’t eat a lot of krill, man.
I guess some honey and souffle ‘em.
Oh but I forgot what I made ‘em.
La la la, wait til I get my stuffing right
La la la, turkey plate and some stuffing, right?
Excuse me, was you braising something?
Uh uh, you gotta try my stuffing
Ha ha, it’s made with English muffins
Uh uh, you gotta try my stuffing.Must Try My Stuffing submitted by mhope (via noonemanshouldhaveallthatflour)
So there is a tumblr called No One Man Should Have All That Flour comprised of Ye songs rewritten to be about food and it is a bit genius.

“In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice; In practice, there is.”
Chuck Reid
This applies to so many things. Worth keeping in mind.

Read more books!
I stopped making specific resolutions a few years ago. It seemed pointless to make them, when in the end it seemed like it was more for conversation, than for real change. If I need/want to make a change in my life, why wait until the calendar says I should? So instead, I try to focus on being a better me than I was before. Constant improvement over time.
In that spirit, I have been thinking about reading more books this year. In any form. Hardcover, paperback, ebook on my iPhone. Just read. I came across a reference for the Everyman’s Library recently. It was interesting to go through the list and see how many of the books I had read. It was more interesting to see how many I knew, but hadn’t read.
So, I am going to read more. Not just this year. For years and years. It want to know more, learn more, experience more. I want to be able to share books with my future child. I want to have opinions about things. Reading is the path to that end.
I mention the Everyman’s Library because reading the classics is part of this exercise. I figure you can’t go wrong reading some of our most loved stories. You can find the list here.

Studio Multitracks
I love music. In most of it’s forms. I also play guitar. So, when I read about this site, Studio Multitracks, in the Sunday NY Times, I knew I had to check it out. Well worth a trip.
The isolated tracks for The Stones’ “Gimme Shelter” were pure goodness. I dug a little deeper and found bass tracks from James Jamerson for a few Marvin Gaye cuts. Listening to his bass isolated from the rest of the tune was like getting a private lesson. There is a lot more to hear.
So, check it out. Thanks to Ben Ratliff, of the NY Times, for highlighting in his Playlist column. Here is the full article.
